Urolift Sexual Preservation for BPH

Urolift BPH Enlarged prostate

Common responses to the current treatment of BPH or enlarged prostate:

“I can’t tolerate the side-effects of  the medications!”

“I don’t want to be on long-term or chronic medications!”

“I cannot accept the sexual side-effects of surgery, especially losing my ability to ejaculate during sex…”

Sexual preservation is possible with Urolift for men who are suitable for this procedure.

The innovative treatment for the common problem of BPH is here. Prostatic Urethral Lift is a minimally-invasive day procedure. Men with enlarged prostates, or BPH, often have lower urinary tract symptoms. Unlike the current treatment for BPH, the Urolift procedure does not cause sexual dysfunction like retrograde ejaculation or erectile dysfunction.

Around 4 to 6 Urolift implants are placed in the prostatic urethra via a slim telescope to pull the obstructing lobes of prostate apart to improve the flow of urine out from the urinary bladder through the urethra.

The telescope is placed through the urethra (urine tube) with adequate lubricant and under sedation in the procedure room. Our urologist will visualise the size and configuration of the prostate. These Urolift implants are placed to ensure a good channel for outflow of the urine form the bladder. This procedure is minimally-invasive and performed as a day procedure with no need for a hospital stay. Most men do not require a catheter after the procedure and can return to their daily activities with no issues.

All medical treatments are bespoke and tailored to each patient’s expectations and individual conditions. Before our urologist can recommend Urolift over other forms of treatment, men who are interested will be evaluated and counselled accordingly.
